Gibralfaro and Alcazaba
The big hike day is here. We checked out the two castles in town for a very full day. Since there’s a lot of uphill over uneven terrain Cal is riding with me.
Today was basically what I had been training for over the lastyear. 130 Meters up to the highest point. and 21,000 steps, most of which I was carrying Cal in the Baby Bjorn. I had a goal for the year of losing as much weight as Cal weighs by the end of the year, and walking 10,000 steps every day. This really made the hike no problem for me, so I guess despite not hitting those exact goals, I consider it a success.
There are two castles here. The Gibralfaro (rock of the lighthouse) is the upper one that we went to first. It was mostly built in 929 CE, and the outer wall added in the 14th century.
The Alcazaba (citadel) was built and rebuilt between the 11th and 14th centuries.
The ruins of a Roman theater sits in front of the Alcazaba.
I bought some new shirts, so you’ll actually see me in something other than the 5 target shirts or free tech vendor shirts I usually wear.
I love the sandwiches here. I can’t get enough of them. Both of these ended up being very similar but delicious. The waiter was super nice and let us move from outside to inside because it started getting cold.
