Museum day Madrid (pics coming soon)
Cal threw up overnight. He’s gone through every kind of sickness now. His breathing and temp are fine now, but now he has diarrhea and has vomited a few times.
We had our first chance to do laundry, and went out to the main square of Madrid. There were mostly Christmas Market stuff.
From there we went to the royal palace, which is one of the biggest in Europe.
We tried to go in the nearby Egyptian temple, but the free tickets had already been booked for the rest of the day.
We had some Portuguese appetizers for lunch, then walked through Retiro park. Cal is enchanted by the pidgins.
The Prado museum here is free for the last two hours (6-8). Molly wasn’t interested so I went alone. I got there right at 6 and It took 40 minutes in various lines to get in but I cruised through the gigantic museum in a little over an hour. That was about the right amount of time for me.
Highlights were some of the Roman busts that used different colors of marble for the clothes and armor and other sculpture pieces. There’s a copy of the Mona Lisa here that was made while Da Vinci was making his, and I guess in the same workshop. Despite Raphael being my favorite Ninja Turtle, I wasn’t too into his work.
